Pitalito is located south of Huila Department in the valley of the Magdalena and the vertex formed by the central and eastern mountain ranges to 1,318 meters above sea level and about 188 km from the Capital of Huila. It is considered the Star Road Surcolombiana by its strategic location, which allows communication with neighboring departments of Cauca, Caqueta and Putumayo
